BE CAREFUL WITH THE «DISINFECTION» OF PEOPLE

Due to the proliferation of POPULAR INVENTIONS (I call them that way just to be diplomatic) of all kinds to fight against COVID-19, I was struck by the emergence of disinfection of people inventions who use steam or chemical substances to supposedly «disinfect people» before entering a place. 

Remember hell is also full of well-intentioned people .

As it is known to everyone, crises lead to new inventions, some useful, other useless, in this case as a Health and Safety professional with more than 20 years in the area, it is my duty to call attention to the inappropriate use of these Popular inventions , although I understand that we all want to earn money, I DO NOT justify playing with the safety and health of the people.

These devices are NOT ENDORSED by the WHO / PAHO or by the EPA / CDC, therefore their use is NOT RECOMMENDED , social isolation and cleaning with soap and water continue to be the best preventive measures endorsed by all the aforementioned organisms. Using a state of crisis to make money based on FALSE information should be punished by law in an exemplary way.

I am not going to go deeply into what are the disinfection protocols of FACILITIES since they are well explained and detailed in the pages of the United States Environmental Protection Agency EPA  and in the CENTER FOR THE CONTROL AND PREVENTION OF DISEASES CDC ( just click in the names of each one and you will be taken to their websites  ) if you are a specialist in the area you know them and handle them . And as I said it is about DISINFECTION OF FACILITIES AND THE CHEMICALS USED IN THEM are for use on surfaces, not in humans. EPA and CDC protocols are used globally by the WHO / PAHO and all healthcare entities they are easy to understand and apply WHEREVER IT IS BY PROFESSIONALS.

DECONTAMINATION FOR PEOPLE EXIST, AND ARE CLEARLY DETAILED IN THE EPA AND CDC , BUT THOSE DO NOT APPLY TO THIS CASE OR PARTICULAR SITUATION , please read the EPD /CDC guidelines.

In the links provided above you can also find the list of recommended disinfecting substances and the action times ,before any disinfection procedure, remember that there are disinfecting substances that react and even damage certain surfaces and these collateral damages must be avoided using suitable substances for each place or surface and NEVER MIX THEM. If you have questions, consult a PROFESSIONAL.
